قدمت فتيات “ميم” ورشة عمل عن “الجنس والنوع الاجتماعي” لعدد من أحرار الجنس/حرات الجنس العرب في احدى المؤتمرات، نورد ملخصا عنه في ما يلي:
- الجنس Sex: هو مركب اجتماعي بناء على الخصائص البيولوجية – الطبية للمولود، ويصنف البشر بين “ذكر” (من يولد بضو ذكري) و”أنثى” (من تولد ببظر ومهبل). ويتبع الجنس مجموعة خصائص اجتماعية – قانونية تفرض على الفرد فرضا لمجرد امتلاكه/ا عضوا بشكل محدد لم يقم هو/هي باختياره. ويحدد الأطباء (الذين هم انعكاس للمجتمع القائم ونظرته وفلسفته) جنس المولود بناء على “المسطرة” أي: اذا كان طول بظر المولود بين 0.25 سنتم و0.85 سنتم، يعد المولود أنثى، واذا كان من 3 سنتم وم فوق يعد ذكرا

Exactly two years ago today, April 19, I went to a meeting in Morocco around resource mobilization for women’s rights in the Middle East and North Africa. Over 100 of the region’s top women’s rights advocates were there and it was the first time I meet them. IGLYO’s “This is Who We Are” conference held this summer in Amsterdam allowed for 4 days of cross-cultural examination of the status of LGBTQ issues in the world.
