On Postponing Pain and Other Anecdotes

Mar 8th, 2010 | By sara | Category: Lead Story

I watched my grandmother’s funeral from a distance, her body mingled with the earth covering her grave. My grandmother never  strayed away from the stereotype of an Arab woman. She married  young and made lots of children, buried her own husband and joined  him soon after. I’ve never seen my grandmother speak up to [...]

Feb 28th, 2010 | By Gholam Abi Nawas | Category: Gholam Abi Nawas, Lead Story

I was young when these experiences happened to me and I do remember them as if they happened yesterday, like a nightmare that will never end. Every time I face it, I make it disappear for a while, only to sneak up on me a couple of months later [...]
