About Bekhsoos

Bekhsoos is an Arab lesbian online magazine published quarterly by Meem. We cover topics related to homosexuality in the Arab world.

Our objective is to fill the gap of lesbian-produced writing in the Arab world through documentation and reports, opinion pieces, and creative work. We believe in the incredible wealth of LBTQ women's stories and experiences out there that have not yet been put forth enough online or in print.

There is much mystery that surrounds the Arab lesbian identity. We're here to show that we're normal, creative, intelligent beings - just like you. And we're here to speak our minds and tell our stories.

We must write. We must write volumes to make up for our invisibility and for the history that has forgotten us. We must write for the eyes that want to read us. We must write for our thoughts that need to be expressed. We must give new meanings to things through new words, new phrases, and new paragraphs. We must write. Join us.

And yes, we should write more in Arabic - we're working on that. It's a Lebanese thing :)
