The world premiere
of All My Life (Tool Omri) the first Egyptian gay
movie is taking place at Frameline 32, The San
Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, June 19-29,
2008! The protagonists of All My Life are gay men facing
persecution and discrimination in the wake of the 2001
Queen Boat arrests in which 52 alleged homosexuals were
tried in a national security court. Meem would like to
congratulate Maher Sabry, the director, on the release
of his volunteer-run, barely-any-budget
5-years-in-the-making historical movie!

The International Lesbian & Gay Association (ILGA)
has sent out an email to all of its contacts introducing
Meem - which was very cool of them! They've also
posted a
news item about us on their website. Meem is a full
member of ILGA.
We've launched our new Counseling Program at the
Womyn House. It is open to all Meem members who would
like to come and talk to a professional psychologist
about anything on their mind. You can
read
more & view the counseling schedule here.
We were very happy to welcome the Program Director and
Program Manager of the Heinrich Boell Foundation (HBF)
Middle East Office to the Womyn House this month.
Eight of our members met and talked with our visitors,
who expressed their admiration with the work Meem has
done so far, especially with the Womyn House. HBF is
currently funding the publication of a book on lesbian
stories in Lebanon, due out in September.
One of Meem's founders has accepted an invitation to be
an Official Advisor to the Global Fund for Women,
the biggest independent women's rights funding
organization in the world. She will be advising on all
feminist activism in the MENA region, in addition to
work done on sexual and bodily rights.
